Project Dewatering was formed in 1999 by a team of industry professionals, backed by a substantial academic research team to provide an unparalleled range of dewatering services to the UK Construction market.

Over the past 11 years, Project Dewatering has established itself as a leading contractor in the provision of temporary or permanent dewatering systems to a wide range of end-users, from major construction sites and commercial outlets to the prestigious Tyne Tunnel 2 project and the Belfast Sewers Project.

Key Personnel

David Wright BSc (Hons) FGS CGeol
Managing Director

David is a chartered geologist with considerable experience in methods of groundwater control, analysis and remediation, both in the UK and overseas. He is well versed in the practical application, management and maintenance aspects of groundwater control systems and is also active in the continuous development of dewatering system design and installation.

Prof. Paul L. Younger BSc MSc PhD FGS CGeol FREng
Technical Director, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Newcastle University

Paul is a hydrogeologist and environmental engineer with extensive international experience in the practical management of groundwater quantity and quality. In addition to running a successful mine water research programme at Newcastle University, Paul has designed long-established groundwater abstraction and dewatering schemes in the USA, South America and the UK, and is a specialist in predictive modelling of groundwater movement.

Prof. P Enda O'Connell BEng DIC PhD
Technical Director

Enda is one of the UK's leading hydrologists, with experience spanning urban drainage design, integrated management of groundwater and surface water systems and the analysis and management of risk in hydrological systems. As Professor of Water Resources Engineering at the University of Newcastle, Enda leads one of Europe's largest and most successful hydrological research centres.

David Gowans
Chairman/Director of Drilling Operations

David has been involved in the drilling industry for 30 years and has worked on many large drilling contracts throughout the world, working in  major exploration, abstraction and construction projects. In 1992 David established Drilcorp Ltd, which he led as Managing Director to become one of the UK’s most successful and highly respected specialist drilling companies. Drilcorp is held in high regard within the dewatering fraternity, and is a valued corporate member of both the Well Drillers Association and the British Drilling Association.
